Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Transportation division. We are looking for a Chartering Manager to complete our team. The Chartering Manager will charter ocean freight vessels that meet specifications in timing, volume, quantity, and cost. Being customer-focused with excellent communication, project, and change management skills are essential.

This role will be based out of the CHS corporate office in Inver Grove Heights, MN.

Responsibilities

  • Chartering Ocean freight at competitive prices to enable the product-line strategies and support the overall supply chain.

  • Execute charter parties that align with customer requirements and reduce overall risk to CHS Inc.

  • Research and analyze various freight opportunities in the marketplace to maximize margin.

  • Work directly with business counterparts and supply chain colleagues in developing business solutions to meet their needs.

  • Independently handle complex issues while escalating only the most complex issues to the appropriate staff.

  • Provide additional support to the ocean operations team when necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Main tasks but not limited to:

  • Provide competitive freight support to Lakes, Caribbean & Atlantic markets traders.

  • Maintain and develop grids for internal quoting on Handy & Supramax freight.

  • Maintain daily contact with owners, operators & brokers.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High School diploma or GED

  • 4+ years of experience in Supply Chain and Procurement and/or Commodities

  • 4+ years of experience in Trading

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in chartering

  • Strong focus on quality, well-timed execution – converting desk plans into reality.

  • Assist the team to set and execute regional strategies.

  • Strong risk management comprehension

  • Pricing excellence

  • Ability to speak and understand English and Spanish.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or related field

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
